Opstal Country Lodge is situated in the picturesque
Schoemanshoek Valley, just 12 km outside Oudtshoorn.
The
typical Klein Karoo style farm buildings, including old
stables, wagon house, farmhouse, share cropper’s
cottage, old barn and a bungalow, have been restored to
revive the old world ambience. For generations the
Schoeman family farmed this fertile valley and some of
the beautiful farm buildings date back to as early as
1830. Albertus and Matilda treat their guests to
wholesome country food and hospitality reminiscent of
the early 1800's. The subtle and thoughtful addition of
modern conveniences and amenities have ensured the
unique atmosphere is preserved.
The
spacious complex allows guests to enjoy privacy and
tranquillity. Our chef, Lenie, combines traditional Cape
cookery with typical Klein Karoo dishes to create an
authentic dining experience. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink in
the bar area or outside while looking at a beautiful
Karoo sunset. The romance of the Karoo and the cosy
village atmosphere, along with the quaint chapel and
