Bushwa Private Game Lodge is a luxury hideaway in the lesser-known, malaria-free Waterberg biosphere just outside of Johannesburg.

When you are not bumbling around on a game drive, you can indulge in a choice of spa treatments at the Tsamma Bush Spa. 

Life at the main lodge is bliss.

Relax at the rim-flow swimming that has breathtaking views of the wilderness, enjoy evenings under the stars in the boma area, or relax in one of the many lounges.

The self-catering camp also has its own swimming pool and facilities, making it ideal for groups.

The treehouse is perfect for a spot of romance and comes highly recommended for honeymooners. Food is a highlight at Bushwa, and plenty of homegrown fares is on offer- vegetables are grown on the property.

Accommodation at Bushwa Private Game Lodge:

The main lodge has 4 thatched roof chalets and one canvas-tented chalet. Each unit is privately set and fitted with fine decor and crisp linen.

Three of the thatched roof chalets as well as the canvas tented chalet are set within 50 meters of the lounge, bar, and dining area. The fourth thatched roof chalet is located at the Tsamma Spa, some 150 meters away and a little more private. Access to and from the Spa chalet is on an inclined footpath, and although not strenuous, should be kept in mind for guests who prefer easier walking distances.

The Spa Chalet is ideal for couples who value their privacy. An inclined walkway and steps lead from the Spa chalet to the main lodge’s lounge and dining area. Guests staying at the Spa chalet are welcome to make use of the communal lounge and relaxation facilities after 17:00

Safari and Game Viewing at Bushwa Private Game Lodge

There are plenty of safari activities and things to do while staying at Bushwa Game Lodge.

Game drives are standard, and take place twice a day. 

They take place in an open game viewer, allowing you to feel that much closer to nature. 

The morning game drive takes place at dawn and the evening drive lets you see enjoy sightings of nocturnal predators.

And there’s always a break for sundowners!

The Waterberg has a wider variety of flora and fauna than elsewhere in Africa.

The diverse reserve sustains over 40 species of game, and 300 species of resident and migrant birds which means it’s ideal for nature drives.

We also take pride in our buffalo and sable breeding herds which we often see whilst out on safari.

The lodge is in a malaria-free zone and offers a sense of tranquility and luxury to its visitors.

Swimming pools, private decks, spa treatments, and sundowners are the order of the day at our special spot! 

Location of Bushwa Private Game Lodge:

Bushwa Private Game Lodge is in a private reserve within the Greater Waterberg Biosphere in the Limpopo Province and is an easy self-drive journey, with the closest town being Vaalwater and the closest major international airport being O.R Tambo.

There are Toll gates en route, so do be aware that you will need to pay road tolls.

We estimate the drive to be between 2 – 3 hours, dependent on traffic.  

Follow the R21 from O.R Tambo towards Pretoria, the R21 becomes the N1.

Follow the N1 through Pretoria until you reach a toll gate (Kranskop) where you will take the Modimolle/Nylstroom turn-off.
